EASWP’s built-in WCAG scanner checks your site’s pages for common accessibility issues and provides a prioritized list of improvements. Scans run entirely inside your WordPress admin — no data leaves your server.
Prerequisites
- EASWP installed and activated
- At least one published page or post on your site
Running a Scan
Step 1: Open the Scanner
Navigate to EASWP → Scanner in your WordPress admin sidebar.
Step 2: Select Pages to Scan
By default, EASWP scans all published pages and posts. You can also select specific pages if you want a targeted scan.
Step 3: Start the Scan
Click Run Scan. The scanner processes each page and checks for issues across multiple WCAG categories including images, headings, links, forms, color contrast, and more.
Step 4: Review Results
After the scan completes, you’ll see:
- Accessibility score: An overall score based on the issues found
- Issue breakdown: Issues grouped by type (missing alt text, heading order, contrast, etc.)
- Severity levels: Each issue is tagged as critical, serious, moderate, or minor
- Per-page details: Click any page to see its specific issues with remediation guidance
Note: Scan results provide guidance on potential issues. Automated scanning cannot catch every accessibility problem — manual testing and user feedback are also important parts of a comprehensive accessibility strategy.
Scheduled Scans (Pro)
Pro users can set up automatic recurring scans on daily, weekly, or monthly schedules. Navigate to EASWP → Settings → Scan Schedule to configure automated scanning with optional email notifications.
Troubleshooting
- Scan stuck or timing out: Large sites with many pages may take longer. Try scanning a smaller selection of pages first.
- Zero issues found: This typically means the scanned pages have no detectable automated issues. Remember that automated tools catch roughly 30-50% of accessibility barriers — consider manual review for a more complete picture.
- Different results on rescan: Dynamic content (ads, user-generated content) can cause variation between scans.
