Understanding Accessibility Profiles

Last updated: March 2026 · Applies to: EASWP 1.0+

EASWP includes 8 pre-configured accessibility profiles that let visitors quickly adjust your site to their specific needs with a single click. Each profile activates a combination of toolbar settings optimized for a particular disability or condition.

Prerequisites

  • EASWP installed and activated with the toolbar enabled

Available Profiles

1. Vision Impairment

Increases text size, enhances contrast, and activates a larger cursor. Designed for visitors with low vision who need content to be larger and more distinct.

2. Dyslexia

Adjusts font to a dyslexia-friendly typeface, increases letter and word spacing, and enables a reading guide. Helps visitors who have difficulty distinguishing similar letters.

3. Seizure / Epilepsy

Reduces motion, removes animations, and tones down color contrasts. Minimizes visual triggers that can cause seizures or migraines.

4. Motor Impairment

Increases click target sizes, activates keyboard navigation highlights, and enables larger interactive elements. Supports visitors who use alternative input devices or have limited fine motor control.

5. Cognitive

Simplifies the visual layout, highlights important content, and reduces distractions. Designed for visitors who benefit from a cleaner, less overwhelming interface.

6. Color Blind

Adjusts color schemes to improve distinguishability for common forms of color blindness. Adds visual indicators beyond color alone for important UI elements.

7. Deaf / Hard of Hearing

Highlights visual alternatives to audio content and emphasizes captions and transcripts where available. Ensures visitors aren’t missing information delivered through sound.

8. ADHD

Activates reading focus tools, reduces peripheral distractions, and highlights the current reading area. Helps visitors maintain focus and track their place in content.

How Visitors Use Profiles

  1. Click the accessibility toolbar trigger on your site
  2. Look for the Profiles section at the top of the toolbar
  3. Click any profile to instantly apply its settings
  4. Click the same profile again to deactivate it
  5. Profiles can be combined — visitors can activate multiple profiles simultaneously

Note: Visitor preferences are saved in their browser’s local storage, so their settings persist across page loads and visits without requiring an account.

Troubleshooting

  • Profile not applying changes: Some theme styles may have high CSS specificity that overrides profile adjustments. Contact support if specific adjustments aren’t working.
  • Settings not persisting: Visitors using private/incognito mode or clearing browser data will lose saved preferences. This is expected behavior.
